XI. 21:1-25 THE PROVISION OF JESUS FOR ALL FOLLOWERS

A. 21:1-14 THIRD APPEARANCE OF JESUS TO DISCIPLES

b. 21:2 THE DISCIPLES PRESENT AT THIS APPEARING

c. 21:3a Simon Peter says to them, I go a fishing.

But when day was now breaking, Jesus stood on the beach:

g. 21:5a Jesus therefore says to them, Little children, have you anything to eat?

l. 21:7b PETER SWIMS TO SHORE

m. 21:8 THE REST BRING THE CATCH

But the other disciples came in the little boat

(for they were not far from the land, but about two hundred

n. 21:9 THE BREAKFAST JESUS PREPARED

As therefore they got out upon the land, they see a charcoal fire laid,

o. 21:10 :Jesus says to them, Bring of the little fish which you have now caught.

p. 21:11 PETER DRAWS THE NET TO LAND

full of great fishes, a hundred andfifty-three:

and for all therewere so many, the net was not torn.


q. 21:12a :Jesus says to them, Come break yourfast.

B. 21:15-23 JESUS ESTABLISHES PETER IN HIS MINISTRY

2. 21:20-23 THE ONLY RESPONSIBILITY OF PETER: FOLLOW JESUS

a. 21:20 PETER SEES JOHN FOLLOWING

:Peter, turning about, sees the disciple whom :Jesus loved following;

b. 21:21 :Peter therefore seeing him says to :Jesus, Lord, what aboutthis man?

c. 21:22 :Jesus says to him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to you? YOU follow me.

d. 21:23 HOW MISUNDERSTANDING PRODUCES RUMORS

This :saying therefore went forth among the brethren, that that :disciple does not die:

yet :Jesus did not say to him, that he does not die;

but, if I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to you?


C. 21:24 JOHN WITNESSES THE TRUTHFULNESS OF HIS GOSPEL

HOU-TOS es-tin ho ma-theTES ho mar-tuRON [3140] peRI TOUton,

This is the disciple that witnesses of these things, and wrote these:

kai ho GRApsas [1125] TAUta: kai OIda-men HOti a-leTHES auTOU he mar-tuRIa es-tin.

and we know that his :witness is true.


D. 21:25 BUT A FRACTION OF JESUS' DEEDS RECORDED IN THIS GOSPEL

EStin de kai ALla polLA ha ePOIe-sen ho IeSOUS,

And many other thingsalso are which :Jesus did,

HAti-na eAN GRAphe-tai [1125] kath' hen, oud' auTON OImai [3633]

the which if they be written every one, I suppose

that not even the world itself would contain the books written.


NOTE: Perhaps the most interesting insight in the above section of the Gospel of John concerns Jesus' questioning of Peter after breakfast. Peter denied Jesus 3 times at the time of His trial. Now Jesus questions Peter 3 times. He starts out by asking Peter if heloved (a-gaPAS) Him more than the other disciples. Peter's response is noton this level of “Divine Love”, but on a lower level of “phiLO” love, the love of a friend to a friend.


The second question by Jesus followed this same pattern.


But the thirdquestioning grieved Peter, notbecause it was the third time - but because Jesus now dropped down to Peter's level, and queried him as to whether he evenloved Jesus as a friend (phiLEIS). this really hurt Peter. But it was necessary, because of Peter's previous 3-fold denial. Oswald Chambers often points out the painful questioning of Jesus for each one of us, so as to bring out our need to be lifted by Him to a higher level. Peter needed to be brought up to the “aGApe” level!


Note too the 3 different responses of Jesus to Peter's responses concerning His little lambs, and little sheep. One doesn't need to have any knowledge of the Greek language to see clearly these distinctions in the transliterated Greek text. No English translation can possibly point out these very clear distinctions. That is why I am naming this Interlinear Greek New Testament - “The Layman'sInterlinear New Testament”!


There are many other unusual transliterated Greek words in this complete Interlinear Greek New Testament - that a layman with no knowledge of Greek can pick up and use. Then too, each significant Greek word in this entire New Testament is followed in brackets with the number in Strong's Concordance. It is then possible to do a Greek Word Study on a word to obtain a clear definition.


The “outlining” for each sentence, subdivision, paragraph and section provides a clear contextwhich is unique among all NT translations, because of the Bible Numeric phenomenon discovered by Ivan Panin.
